Henry Cavill is the New Man of Steel

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the NEW SUPERMAN, Henry Cavill.. As much as I love Brandon Routh, I'm also excited as to what Henry can bring to the character as Warner Bros. reboots the Superman franchise once again, scheduled for a Decemer 2012 release.

Greedy Managers

I'm very much disappointed because just when everything is starting to fall into place for our next production, something.. or someone, comes and ruins everything.

For the longest time, we've been performing for the love of theatre, and for our beneficiaries. We've always had nothing, and if ever we have something at the end of every performance, it will always be for our beneficiaries. We've never treated theatre as business. NEVER.

For our next production, we've had a few new recruits who were finalists in a recent local contest here in the city. They attended rehearsals just once, but I was very optimistic because they were all very eager and excited as I am.

Then came the disappointment.

I was just informed that because they were finalists in the recent contest, the group that organized the contest now "manages" them, and they're not allowed to join or perform with other groups that the organizer doesn't approve of. In short, the organizers "own" them already, and they're not allowed to join our production anymore. And since our is not a business, I'm sure the organizers will never allow their talents to join us. As if their so-called talents will make them rich. *sigh*

Yes, it's so sad to know that there are still a LOT of greedy people around. Our next production is for the cancer survivors of Cebu, and we're working hard for it.

Yes, I'm disappointed. Very disappointed. But I realized that there's nothing else that I can do. That we can do, but to move on without them. Yes, it will be hard looking for people to replace them, especially one who were with us in our last production, someone who has always been excited for this production, but now he can't be with us.

If I was in their shoes, I'd choose the production rather then being managed by the contests' organizers, but that's just me. They're young and excited, and somewhat thinking that they're "celebrities" in their own right, and that it's great for them to be managed. I've seen so many situations before that ended badly. I hope, for their sake, that it will end well.

I don't want to say this but yes, a lot of times, there's a fine line between being managed and being exploited. Just saying.

New Dawn

At long last, after more than a year of suffering, the office has finally decided to let go of the wolf that has been tormenting me and has been after my head for the longest time. Personally, I feel sorry for him because his wife just gave birth to their third child, but at the same time, he was asking for it (termination) for a long time. He's actually lucky to have reached this far with all the violations he has committed for more than a year. In all other companies, he would have been terminated a long time ago.

Yes, it's a new dawn for our office, with new people coming in. I'm optimistic that this will be a good year for all of us.

Leona Lewis

I was just browsing through YouTube waiting for my shift to end when I came across this vid by Leona Lewis. Now I'm not really updated with pop music, and though I've heard her name before, I haven't had the chance to hear her voice. And when I listened to this, it almost brought me to tears. Originally by the beautiful Kelly Clarkson (the first American Idol), Leona totally owned this song right here, one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

Yes, some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this. This is Leona's moment..

Loser and Loner Mode

Today, the streets of Cebu are alive because of Sinulog 2011! As for me, I'm in my Loser and Loner mode as I'm just at home resting, and will continue my Leverage marathon after this short blog. Just finished editing my songs for a wedding gig tomorrow. Kinda disappointed with 2 friends I invited to sing with me. The first one declined because she had a lot of requirements for school she had to make, which was fine. The second one, she said yes and sounded excited. I was wrong. 5 days had passed, and I have yet to receive a response from her through text or Facebook on when are we going to run through the songs. Yes, they're both famous songs (especially requested by the bride and groom), but I rearranged them to make them more romantic and made both songs a duet. Since I haven't heard from her, I edited the songs which I'll be singing solo tomorrow.

Some people are just so insensitive or just too confident? Why, even the best singers in the world still rehearse, and rehearse songs they've performed thousands of times. There's no excuse for not getting back to me. Yes, I'm disappointed with her, to think that I invited her to expose her as she's going to have a very difficult role in our next production. Now, I'm afraid she won't be able to take on that character.

*sigh*

Ikaw ang Hinungdan

My sister, Kaz, joined the 31st Cebu Popular Music Festival last night. She was the intepreter of one of the 12 finalists, and though she (and the song) didn't win, she did pretty well considering it's her very first time to join such a big event, and a part of our island's history.

Congratulations again te, I'm so proud of you as always ♥

Leverage

Finally up-to-date with Chuck while waiting for the other series to continue from their winter break. An officemate suggested Leverage, currently in its 3rd season. I wasn't sure at first but when she gave me a copy of the complete first 2 seasons, I got hooked. After less than a week, I'm 5 episodes shy of finishing Season 1, that's how hooked I am.

According to Wikipedia, Former insurance investigator Nathan Ford and his team act as modern-day Robin Hoods, pulling elaborate cons targeting the greedy and the corrupt who have deceived their working class clients. At the beginning of season one, the team is brought together to pull a heist, but upon being betrayed by the man who hired them, they get revenge by sinking his company, amassing a fortune in the process. Finding a taste for good deeds and for working together, the team decides to stay together. They move into Los Angeles headquarters where they use their skills to assist helpless victims of the rich and powerful.

Katrina Turns 8

It was her simplest birthday, but perhaps one of the happiest. We woke her up so early this morning with a birthday cake, a candle, a single balloon and birthday music. Her face brightened up right away when she saw our small surprise, and her genuine appreciation and happiness stayed with her until she slept tonight.

We may not have everything, and we certainly cannot afford everything, but we thank the Lord everyday for blessing us with what we need, and for blessing us with a daughter like Katrina. I am not the best father there is, but I'm trying my darn best to be at least a good father to her. I'm just thankful that I have a daughter as good as her.

Happy Birthday, Kit! I hope and pray that you'll continue to be as good as you are even if Papa will no longer be around. Never forget that come what may, I love you very much!

Starbucks Logo

I can't afford Starbucks and I've only been there a few times with friends who were kind enough to buy me a drink there, but their logo, the Starbucks emblem, it has been there ever since I can remember. It's the universal logo all over the world that even the non-coffee drinkers recognize it. From the original logo in 1971, it underwent 2 changes that made it the now-familiar logo. Now they're changing it again. It's not a major, major change, but it's enough to make me write a blog about it. You see, I don't like the new logo. Maybe we will get used to it in the future, but right now, I really don't like it. It looks very.. bare.

What do you think?

Deadly Kodak Moment

Have you heard of someone identifying and catching his own killer? Strange but true, it happened recently when a councilor took a picture of his family during New Year's Eve, at the same time capturing the guy who was about to kill him. Got this photo from the Inquirer.

2011

My new year was a lot better than my Christmas if only because the family was complete. It was still the usual simple buena noche but what's important is that we welcomed 2011 together as one. I've been having this cough the past weeks, and now I've been having this headache (they said it's migraine) the past days. Tried to catch up with sleep over the holiday weekend because whatever happens, I will be going back to work tomorrow. I want to start the year right, hopefully not arriving late for work.

2010 has been a real roller coaster ride for me. I lost a lot of really good people, and I met a lot of new friends. I have a lot of goals and dreams for 2011, and I will try my very best to fulfill those. When my sis Kaz said 2011 will be a Year of Music, she was referring to her life. I'd like to borrow that and hopefully, 2011 will be a Year of Music for me, and for everyone, especially with our ambitious production in the works.

Like birds, let us all leave behind what we don't need to carry like grudges, sadness, pain, fear and regrets. May this new year be a song of thanksgiving, an offering of praise, and a celebration of God's love in his amazing grace.

Happy 2011 everyone! :)
