I was honestly bored and sleepy reading the book for the first time. The thickness was discouraging, but I eventually loved it once I got through the more interesting parts.
I have a confession. I wasn't able to really finish the whole book because I skipped through the Napoleon parts, probably the only boring part of the novel.
