Cavs Karma

The Cleveland Cavaliers have just broken the NBA record for the longest losing streak in history - 25 straight loses as of the moment. Call it what you want, but I call it karma after their proud owner, Dan Gilbert, publicly criticized and lambasted King James before the season started. Everyone who follows the NBA will remember that Gilbert promised that his Cavs will win a championship before LBJ and the Heat. This is a nice start for Cleveland going into the All-Star break.. NOT! Haha!

As of today, the Heat is 37-14 while the Cavs have a shameful record of 8-44. Yes, King James was the only one who really wanted to win when he was in Cleveland so Mr. Gilbert, your statement that Lebron is a quitter is entirely inaccurate. In fact, it was you and the so-called supporting cast who quit on Lebron when he was carrying the team all by himself.

Good luck for the future, Cavaliers, it may take many lifetimes before you can get a player as good or better than King James. Then again, you may never find someone like him.

Return of the King

The city that loved him and supported him in his 7 seasons there has turned against him when he decided to sign up with the Miami Heat before the season started. Yesterday, King James returned to Cleveland as the city's number 1 villain. Security was tight and he was booed from the moment he entered the arena, and every time he touched the ball. Just like when playing with other opposing teams, he silenced the crowd with his performance. He sat out the whole 4th quarter. He didn't need to play. After just 3 quarters, Lebron compiled 38 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, 1 block, 1 steal and 0 turnovers.

It was mostly the bench players of Miami playing in the 4th quarter where the Cavaliers tried desperately to catch up. Final score? 118-90.

King James just proved how much the Cavaliers miss him.

Waiting for the King

As the most talented batch of free agents in NBA history start talking to the different teams, Cleveland Cavaliers fans are waiting, hoping and praying that the King will stay, after all, it's the only place he's been in his 7 years in the NBA, and it's just an hour's drive from his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

What Now, Cavs?

For the nth time, King James and the Cleveland Cavaliers have disappointed us yet again. For the second straight year, the Cavs had the best record in the NBA and Lebron was again named the MVP of the league, but also for the second straight year, the Cavs were outplayed, outmatched and outhustled by the better team. Last year we were kicked out from the Conference Finals by Orlando, and this year, the best chance we have for a championship, we didn't even reach the Conference Finals. Boston whipped our butts in the Conference Semi-Finals.

In the following months, we will know if Lebron played his last as a Cavalier. As much as I hate to admit it, he has been a major disappointment in the playoffs this year, his 7th year in the league. It took the great Air Jordan 7 years to get his first title and his supporting cast was not as talented as King James' crew.

Now that there are just 4 teams left in the NBA, I'm rooting for the Celtics since they beat my Cavs. Well, any team as long as it's not the Lakers is okay for me.

Sunday's Best

Now that the Cavaliers have sent the Bulls on their early fishing trip, next stop is Boston where the aging yet dangerous Celtics want to reclaim their lost glory. Although King James was in pain the last 7 seconds of their series with Chicago, I agree with what Charles Barkley said, "If Lebron said it's nothing serious, then it's nothing serious."

The Celtics are a very physical team, just ask Shaq why he wasn't able to play a lot of games in the regular season. Yeah, Glenn Davis said he didn't mean to hurt Shaq and he even called him up on the phone. Davis should be scared with what Shaq said to him on the phone, "Don't worry about it. I'll be back." And yes, the Diesel is back.

Game 1 will be at the Quicken Loans Arena this Sunday (Philippine Time), just before the fight of Shane Mosley and Floyd Gay-weather.

This will be one exciting Sunday! Can't wait! And have I mentioned that we're leaving for our short vacation Sunday evening?

Cavs Take Game One

It's almost 6 AM and I'm still awake. The first game of the NBA Playoffs just ended and my Cavs took first blood against the Bulls. It wasn't a surprise at all though. I hope they can keep the intensity up, and sweep Chicago. It was so nice to see King James and the Big Shaqtus back on the floor for Cleveland.

Since we don't have cable TV, I was dependent on NBA.com the whole time. Before I used to listen to the audio league pass, but for some reason, it's not available anymore. Something caught my attention though. A small slip by the website admin: Cavs trying to hold off Cavs.

Now the NBA's website is one of the best, always up-to-date and very complicated. A small mess-up is not common that's why I'm happy I caught one of them.

Let the Playoffs Begin!

The Playoffs begin this Sunday and my team, the Cavaliers, are again the number one team in the NBA. They were among the favorite teams the previous seasons, but this season, a lot are expecting them to go all the way. They have the reigning MVP and they already have surrounded him with players who can help him reach the Mount Olympus of the NBA.

For the first round, the Cavs will face the Chicago Bulls. This match up brings back memories when the Cavs were eliminated a lot of times by the Bulls a long time ago when there was a number 23 playing for Chicago. Now, there's a new 23 playing for the Cavs and he's the best player in the planet.

If the Cavs play at their usual level and will not let down, I don't think the Bulls can win a single game. I'm not good with predictions, but I see the Cavs winning the first round 4-1.

Cavs ground the Lakers

Yes, they were the defending Champions last year, but right now we're in a different season, and recently, the Los Angeles Lakers faced a different Cleveland Cavaliers team. So much different from the team they bullied last year.

For the regular season, they only face each other twice. The first time was Christmas Day 2009 in Hollywood where the Cavs massacred the Lakers infront of their own fans. The second time was the other day in Ohio where the Cavs proved that they're for real this season.

More importantly, if they meet in the Finals (which many are saying they will), my Cavaliers will have homecourt advantage.

Yes, the Cavs started the season slow, but right now, it's starting to get scary for the other teams as their nightmare is becoming a reality.

So Far, So Good

They're far from being perfect, in fact they even started the season better last season than this season, but I like what I'm seeing so far this season. Aside from the Big Diesel, they also have a lot of new additions to the team like Anthony Parker and Jamario Moon, and a few rookies, so even if the core is there, there are a lot of guys who are still trying to fit in. So far, so good though. As I'm writing this, my Cavs have a record of 15-5 after they started the season with 3-3.

A lot of teams have also improved this year, so it's going to be an exciting season. Will this be King James final season wearing the red and wine? I personally don't think so, but then again, no one knows until the end of the season, so let's enjoy the present and think (worry?) about the future in the future.

Thank you, Cleveland Cavaliers, for giving me something to cheer about and distracting me from other not-so-pleasant things in life.

On the Right Track

A few more days until the new season of the NBA opens, and the excitement is slowly building up. After the best start in franchise history and setting a lot of NBA records, only to lose in the playoffs to the Orlando Magic, the Cleveland Cavaliers made some moves in the off-season and assembled a new-look Cavs to support King James.

So far, so good, looking at the footages of the training camp. The new recruits are doing fairly well. It's so good to see Anthony Parker, Jamario Moon and the Big Diesel, Shaquille O'Neal on the same side as King James this season.

My motto is very simple: Win a ring for the king. My job is to protect the King. I'm in the protection business.

Cavs welcome Shaq

After being eliminated by the Orlando Magic and its self-proclaimed Superman in Dwight Howard, my Cleveland Cavaliers have started the process to be a much better team next season. And seemingly enough, the first step they did was to get the original Superman in the NBA, Shaquille O'Neal. Yes, it's Shaq-Fu, Shaq-daddy, Big Diesel, the Big Eerie, the Big Aristotle bringing his act and experience to Ohio. He's already 37 years old, and even though he is not as dominant as he was before, he is still a dominating force below that will command and demand double-teams. This is a very exciting development for us Cavs fans, and though we will miss Big Ben, I don't mind parting ways with Pavlovic.

Shaq had 3 championships with Kobe and 1 with D-Wade. I'm so much excited with him sharing the ball with the current MVP and probably the most dominant force in the NBA today in King James. And yes, Shaq is out to get back the Superman title from Howard.

Other teams are also improving like the Magic getting Vince Carter and the Spurs getting Richard Jefferson, and they better improve because the Cavs are not done yet. Shaq is just the beginning. Expect more player movements before the next season of the NBA begins.

Congratulations Orlando Magic

My Cleveland Cavaliers were eliminated in 6 games by the Orlando Magic. The Magic will now face the Los Angeles Kobes.. er.. Lakers in the NBA Finals that will start on June 4. The Cavs' dream season has ended and they will again have to wait for another season to try and capture that elusive championship. Lebron James may be the best player, but it was the Magic who was the better team, at least this year. My hats-off to my fellow Superman, Dwight Howard and the rest of the Magic team. Nothing to be ashamed of for the Cavs as we lost to a better team. King James is just 24 years young and I'm sure his not-so-supporting cast learned their painful lesson. Bron Bron cannot carry his team all the time. He may put the team on his back and carry them a few times, but we cannot expect him to carry them in every single game. Basketball is not a 5-0n -1 contest.

As the Magic take on the Lakers, I will be rooting for Orlando. I hate Kobe and the Lakers too much, and the Magic earned my respect and admiration during the Eastern Conference Finals.

Go Magic! Beat LA! Beat LA!

As for my beloved Cavaliers, there will always be a next time. That's one good thing about life, there is always a second chance.

The MVP for THREEEEE!

All night long, he kept trusting his teammates. They kept failing him, but he kept trusting them.

Until, with just one second left and his team down by two, LeBron James had no choice but to do it himself.

One second is not enough to pass the ball to someone else so when King James received the inbound pass from Mo Williams, he had no choice but to take the shot himself. A fadeaway three pointer at the buzzer. A one-point win. More importantly, The MVP saved his team from the jaws of defeat, and saved his team from being down 0-2 going to Orlando. It's now 1-1, the Cavs just needing to win at least one game of the three games in Orlando to regain the homecourt advantage. Game Three will be Monday (Manila Time), there will be a lot of work to do by the Cavs, but hey they're not the Best Team in the NBA for no reason, and as Mo Williams said at the end of the game, "We have the Best Player in the world!"

Game 7s

As I'm writing this, two Game 7s are scheduled for May 18 (Manila Time). The Los Angeles Lakers versus the Houston Rockets, the winner of which will face the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals, while the Boston Celtics will face the Orlando Magic, the winner of which will face my Cleveland Cavaliers for the Eastern Conference Finals.

Whoever the Cavs will face in the East, I'm sure it will be an interesting series since they have a score to settle with both Boston and Orlando, but if I were to choose, I would like the Celtics to face the Cavs. Boston defeated them last year in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals despite 45 points from King James. This year, the Cavs are a much better team while the Celtics are without KG who's out for the rest of the playoffs. But as King James said, "One all-star is out, they still have two all-stars".

The following weeks will be exciting for the NBA and the fans all over the world. For me, it will be a relief from the stress at work.

King James

Finally!

King James was officially crowned as the NBA MVP for this season. As the most dominant force offensively and defensively - virtually unstoppable, my 24 year old idol is surpassing the hype that surrounded him from the start. He received a total of 109 out of a possible 121 votes, easily outvoting Kobe and D-Wade. As D-Wade would put it, "Lebron is the MVP of the league. He will be in that conversation every single year."

And as Bron's Cavaliers have been doing all season long, they've been unstoppable and simply dominating so far in the playoffs. After sweeping the Pistons in four games in the first round, they just blew the Atlanta Hawks away in Game 2 a couple of hours ago, tying a league record by winning their sixth-consecutive playoff game by double digits. Bron Bron and the other starters didn't have to play in the fourth quarter, that's how dominant the team is right now.

So far, so good. Next two games will be in Atlanta, hopefully the Cavs will finish the series there and then again wait for either Orlando or Boston for the Eastern Conference Finals.

My Cleveland Cavaliers just swept through the First Round of the Playoffs a few minutes ago. Their victim was the once-mighty Detroit Pistons, a team that once reigned in the Eastern Conference. The Cavs is the only unbeaten team so far in the playoffs, and eliminating the Pistons early means that they have a little more than a week to rest while waiting for the winner of the series between the Miami Heat and the Atlanta Hawks which the Heat currently leads 2-1. In the series against the Pistons, Bron Bron once again showed his leadership, his all-around brilliance and his total dominance. Now add that to his amazing regular season performance, it will be close to impossible if he is not awarded his very first Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Lebron James is a Beast, and I'm just happy he's on our side.

Go Cavs!

I am so ecstatic and excited that my Cleveland Cavaliers finished with the best record in the regular season, which means King James and his court will have homecourt advantage all throughout the playoff. How important is that? Well, it means that if ever they play a Game 7 in whatever round in the playoff against whoever it is, it will be played in Cleveland where the Cavs lost only twice the whole year, the second loss happening yesterday, their final regular season game, where they only lost by a point. Technically, that loss doesn't really count since King James and three other starters didn't play to prepare for the war ahead.

Speaking of the war ahead, it starts this Saturday (Sunday, Philippine Time) in Cleveland when the Allen Iverson-less Detroit Pistons come to town. Will the Cavs finally go all the way this year? I really hope so! They need 16 wins in the playoffs and finals to win it all, here's hoping win number one will be this Saturday.
