The Last Airbender Rocked!

A lot of people, so-called "fans" of the Avatar series, hate The Last Airbender movie. I saw the movie last night and I personally love it. I mean, it was everything that I expected and even more. The introduction alone blew me away, and I was teary-eyed towards the end of the movie. Yes, the acting of some of the lead actors were not Oscar-material, but it wasn't that bad! C'mon, Noah Ringer got the role of Aang because of his martial arts skills and his resemblance to the cartoon Aang, and not because of his acting skills.

It is never easy to compress 20 episodes of Book 1 into 103 minutes of movie running time, but I salute the director that almost everyone hated. The movie was fast-paced, no dull or really dragging moments, and faithful to the series. There were some changes here and there, but it didn't ruin the story as one of my former officemate ranted in Facebook. He disagreed with my post about the movie, but his issues were nonsensical, almost-childish. He's just like the other haters who are so nit-picky that they're already out of line. Haters will always be haters, and critics will continue to criticize and dissect every little detail of the movie, instead of just enjoying it as it is. People have and will continue to bitch about every little detail that they don't like about the movie. That will show you the type of people they are. Every single person have the choice, and a lot chose to be pessimistic about it.

I love how they cut from scene to scene to save time and maximize the running time of the movie. I will not mention any spoilers here for those who have yet to watch it, but I can really say it surpassed our expectations. Just watch the movie with an open-mind that it is based on the cartoon series, and NOT a replica of the cartoons. It was never meant to be a replica because if it was, what's the point of making the movie anyway?

As a fan, I remember not being blown away after watching Book 1 alone, but only after watching the 3 books in the series, after watching the entire series. I just want to remind everyone that the movie is just Book 1. There are at least 2 more bigger and darker movies to look forward to. They are already writing the script for the second movie, and I hope that the studio will give the go signal in the next months to do Book 2.

In the end, I'm just thankful that one of the best cartoon series there was, was made into a movie and they did their best which I appreciate very much.

Aang is Coming

Instead of July 28, The Last Airbender movie will be released in the Philippines one week earlier, July 21, 2010. I have high expectations from this movie, and so does a lot of my family and friends, that I hope we will not be disappointed.

No Racebending

A lot of people have been complaining and commenting about the cast of The Last Airbender as "white" and "not Asian." As a fan who have been following the cartoons and the development of the movie, I would like to clear things out.

Everything about the cartoons was "Asian-inspired" only and strictly speaking, not really Asian since everything's fictional.

And for the record, in the movie..

* The Southern Water Tribe will consist of primarily Inuit;

* The Northern Water Tribe will consist of primarily Caucasians (and if you're familiar with the series, Sokka & Katara have a lineage there);

* The Fire Nation will consist primarily of Indian and Mediterranean;

* The Earth Kingdom will consist primarily of Asians with future potential Africans;

* The Air Nomads will consist of a blended mixture of all races.

And besides, as what we can see in the trailers so far, the movie's being very faithful to the series in terms of storyline and sets. Some people are just so nitpicky. I choose faithful storyline over looks of the characters any day.

Comparison

A lot have been asking about how faithful The Last Airbender movie is to the series. Well, this gives us an idea, and it's looking good.

Two Months to Go

Just finished watching all the episodes of Book One of Avatar, the Last Airbender series, and I'm liking what I'm seeing so far with the trailers released. By the trailers, I can say that the movie is faithful to the original series so far. I know that it's hard to compress 20 episodes in an almost 2-hour movie, but I really hope they don't mess it up. I have faith in the director though.

Can't Wait for July

The new TV spot of The Last Airbender is short and contains most of the footage we've already seen in previous trailers, but there are also a few more actions scenes, and one scene where the trio are riding Appa, the favorite Bison of everyone in love with the series.



I can't wait for July! This is going to be AWESOME! :)

Last Airbender Superbowl Spot

As promised by the creators, a cut of the full trailer of The Last Airbender was shown during the Superbowl. It looks awesome! Can't wait for the full trailer to be released by the end of this week, or next week.



And since this is a Superbowl spot, let's see if you can spot Appa the Flying Bison in the short trailer.

The international posters (3 of them) were released the other day. One featured Aang, the other had Zuko, and here's the third one with both of them.

Woohoo! I can't wait to watch The Last Airbender on the big screen!

Last Airbender Teaser Poster

The first teaser poster for The Last Airbender movie was recently released, and like the teaser trailer released a few months back, it's building up the excitement of Avatar fans all over the globe.

Too bad though that Director James Cameron's using the Avatar as the title for his latest movie, that Aang would have to do with The Last Airbender.

The Last Airbender

Avatar, the Last Airbender is the favorite of my wife, my daughter, my friends... A LOT of my friends actually love the series. Even my boss loves it. I haven't really seen the whole series, but I've seen a few episodes and I more or less know the whole story as the complete DVD is the most-watched DVD at home.

When we heard that it will be made into a movie trilogy, everyone was excited. Yes, even if I don't follow it, I too was excited. I was looking forward to watching the characters come to life on the big screen with their wonderful powers.

Based on the first teaser trailer (that's posted on my Facebook Vids) and these pictures, so far, so good. Can't wait!
