A Glee Christmas

The 5th season of Dexter ended beautifully again yesterday, no wonder the series is getting a lot of awards including the Emmys. Supernatural, Smallville and Glee also had their final episodes for the year, and will be back by the end of January 2011.

Speaking of Glee, their last episode was very beautiful, and was summarized beautifully in this Glee-wind.

NOT Charice's Audition Vid

There's a video circulating in Facebook (it has been removed already in YouTube) originally posted by YT user ChaGleek which he/she claimed to be Charice's Glee Audition. This is just to clarify that it is NOT Charice's audition for Glee. Charice herself confirmed that this video was taken during her meeting with the people of US Magazine. Her real audition is still strictly confidential and therefore NOT available yet to the public. At the very end of the so-called "audition," the others in the room asked her if she was going to be on Glee. You can see that there is also an entire wall of US Magazine covers on the left wall.. and yeah, the original uploader of this vid in YouTube had her vid removed because of false information :)

Yes, it's Official!

After she was rumored to appear in Glee, she went and auditioned anyway.. and yes, she got in.

Charice is officially included in Glee's second season which begins in September. I have mixed feelings about it, but the dominant feeling is excitement. She will not be a regular but will have a recurring role in the series.

Finding Our Voices

"Glee club will never be lost because you are Glee club, Mr. Schue"

That line from the season finale of Glee brought tears to my eyes, and brought back a lot of memories, good memories from my not-so-distant past, 6 years ago to be exact. I was still a college professor back then, and teaching in a state college (now a state university) where most of the students where from the middle and lower classes. My sister on other hand was college student in the most prestigious university in the city, and we both decided to form our own theatre company.

Our pioneer members then were my sister's classmates and friends, and my very own students. I can still remember the first few days of rehearsals when my students were packed in one corner of the room, heads down and not saying a single word. They were intimidated by the members from other schools, thinking that they were inferior compared to the rest. Most of them even wanted to quit.

As we did a lot of workshops and activities, they slowly came out from their shells and during performance night, they showed a lot of energy and promise, and performed their hearts out. They brought their newly-found confidence into their studies, and eventually, into their lives. During their graduation, I was surprised and deeply touched when they thanked me for giving them a chance to find their voices.

What they don't know is that in helping them find their voices, they've helped me find mine.

Glee's Journey

Finally, the first season of Glee has come to an end, and it beautifully summed up the whole season, and opened a lot of doors for Season 2 which is still 3 months away. It was an episode that was also very personal for me.

The title, Journey, represented the Glee club's journey coming to a full circle, at the same time honoring the legendary band who made the Glee club's first hit, Don't Stop Believin'. I especially loved the part where the kids were telling Schue who they were before they joined Glee, and that Mr. Schue is Glee club to them. It brought back a lot of memories for me, good memories I will talk about in a future post.

It was heartbreaking watching the William McKinley High School Glee club's reactions when the winner was announced, but it was also very beautiful to watch and listen to them realize that even though they lost, they still won. They've matured a lot as performers, and more importantly, as persons, and a big part of that is because of Mr. Schuster and Sue Sylvester. Yes, no one can deny how big a role Sue played in the formation and growth of everyone in the school, most especially the Glee club.

Charice NOT joining Glee

The hottest news these past days is that Charice will be joining the cast of Glee for next season. That excited a lot of fans, most especially the Filipino Gleeks. I don't know where that started, but the rumor is NOT true.

It would have been really swell to see Charice on the show, but unfortunately, not she, her mom nor her handlers have talked with anyone from the show.

Nikki's Full of Glee

I've always admired Nikki Gil ever since she entered show business. I've always admired and respected her both as an artist and a person. She has one of the most beautiful faces I've seen, and one of the sweetest voices ever. It's so wonderful to know that she just auditioned for Glee. I personally feel that she's perfect for Glee, and whether she gets accepted or not, I so admire and respect her now more than ever.

Mood Changer

Day 22 of the 30 Day Song Challenge - A song that you listen to when you’re sad

Although I am a sentimental fool, I try not to listen to sentimental songs when I'm feeling down. It will just add to the pain and emotional suffering. Instead, I prefer lively tunes, songs that can at least make me tap my feet. Lately, I've been listening to some of Glee's lively songs, and they're very helpful in changing my mood.

The L Sign

I passed by a stall selling pirated DVDs (yes, sadly there are A LOT here) and asked if they have Glee available, and if its episodes are complete.

"16 episodes already, boss. Wanna buy?"

"16? Wow! In the States, they're only until episode 13!"

"Aw, advance mi boss, we're very updated"

That cracked me up. How they look for reasons and alibis just to sell their product, something pirated, something stolen.

"Do you know that in the States, they're only until episode 13 so far, and that they haven't even started shooting episode 14 yet because it's scheduled to be shown in April 2010 yet?"

I got a puzzled look from the vendor as I turned my back and left. I would have wanted to do the L sign on him, but that would be rude. But yeah, that guy's a Total Loser.

Bravo, Glee!

After 13 superb episodes, Glee is taking a break to give way to American Idol, and will be back on the air in April 2010. And what a way to end the year than an awesome winter finale. It has been an amazing journey with the New Directions, William McKinley High School's Glee club, and I am so looking forward to more beautiful music and a roller coaster of emotions when it returns in 4 months.

It's Glee that actually rekindled the fire in me to perform again when it premiered a few months back, and now after 13 episodes, I am again very much excited to continue the preparations for our planned production. I hope the people involved share my passion and excitement.

Music is in me, is in my sister, is in us. Through the tough times that we've gone through the past weeks, music has been our one and only therapy and it's working wonders so far.

Full of Glee!

As someone who loves music, Glee is a breath of fresh air from the many series on TV today. From the plot to the characters to the songs, it really is Perfect. Their take on famous songs, be it show tunes, ballads, rock or rap, are incredible that most of their versions are even better than the original ones, and to think half of the cast have not been singing professionally before Glee.

I can say I'm a certified GLEEK and I'm proud of it.



The latest episode, Episode 10 (Ballads) was just so beautiful, I cried throughout the whole episode. The last scene of that episode was one of the most touching so far with the whole club dedicating this song to Finn and Quinn.
