Training Allowance

The company that I stayed with for 17 days owe me the promised training allowance of Php 5,500 since I completed the number of training days, and after I returned all company-owned items (ID, manuals, etc.), I was promised that I will receive my check one month after my batch mates receive their first pay. I don't know why it would take that long considering that I have been cleared and all, but I had no choice. And since they received their first pay on November 10, I called up the company earlier today to inquire about my check. I was furious to say the least. They just casually told me, "It's not here, just try to call back around the second week of January (2010)."

Hello?! Are you serious?!

Since my wife is a QA at that company, I already asked her assistance regarding this. I know that life is not fair, but this is ridiculous!

17 Days

I just resigned. Again.

Well, it's not really resigned because I'm not employed in the company yet. Not yet anyway. I just finished the 3 days of training and 14 days of nesting. That's a total of 17 days of rushed training and taking actual calls lacking a lot of product knowledge. But the worst thing of it all is that we didn't receive anything. We were informed that we will be receiving our so-called training allowance, a measly amount compared to industry standards, on the pay day after our 17th day. It actually defeats its purpose. A training allowance that is given long after the end of training? That's how things are done in that company. It's okay for the employees who have stayed there for a long time, most being first timers in the industry, however it's not okay for me so I quit.

With my departure, our batch is done to 10. After each one was endorsed to different teams, they were informed that instead of getting the allowance on the 25th of October, which is the pay day after our 17th day, they will be getting it on the 10th of November yet. As for me, I don't know if I'm going to get mine. I'm supposed to. I have to. They have to give it to me because I lasted until the 17th day.

No Turning Back

I had my last shift last night, logged out for the last time this morning. The whole shift I was trying to make everyone laugh so no one (including me) would feel any sadness during my last shift with the team, but as the hours turned to minutes, the mood turned into something else. The usually noisy team suddenly became silent as they silently counted down my stay with the team and with the company.

At 4:02 AM, I logged out from my Avaya and my PC, kissed my station, and gave my letter to my team mates. They all wished me well, and told me they'll miss me. I know they will. I know I will. I hope I made the right decision. Only time will tell.

Before going out of the production floor, they made me promise to put my mugs (I bring 2 every shift) and my headset in my locker and come back to the floor to say goodbye to everyone. I said yes. I hurried out to my locker and was about to go back in when I met Chazzy, one of my closest team mates who is like a little sister to me. She hugged me tight and told me she'll miss me and that she doesn't have a Daddy anymore. I was The Daddy to a lot of my colleagues and friends in the office. I hugged her tight and told her that I'll always be there for her. Tears started to fall from my eyes. I just realized I already miss everyone. I wanted to go back to the floor, but I didn't. I couldn't. If I did, I would be more emotional about it.

I went straight to the elevator, and went straight out of the office. I went home and cried myself to sleep.

I miss my team. I miss my team mates.

*sigh*

Last Days

I'm trying to make my last days in the office as happy and as positive as I can. I will have my last shift on Sunday, then process my clearance on Monday. It's so surreal and bittersweet for me. I don't want to leave but I have to, I can't take a chance to be forced out by the account, not the company. I will leave behind a lot of friends who became a family to me. It's really not easy. I have to move on. I must move on.

Resignation

I have finally decided to resign.

I was making a long resignation letter with all the drama in it, but I changed my mind. I just made a short resignation letter expressing my gratitude to everyone in the company, and that I will be leaving 30 days from now. I wanted to tell them the reasons why I'm resigning, but I decided against it. I want to leave without leaving any negativity behind.

*sigh*

I hope I can find a new home soon, a new start. It's not easy especially that the company I'm in now is so near our place, that I can leave the house ten minutes before my time and I still will not be late.

Good things never really last.

Leaving

This is getting worse. REALLY WORSE.

One of my teammates was suspended and will possibly be terminated because out of curiousity, he peeked into the account of our CEO. Well, not really our CEO, but the CEO of our account, our client. It was just a harmless peek on a really boring day at work, but for the client, it was a breach of security and professionalism. They sent an investigator, a former cop, from the States to come here and investigate my poor colleague. He was told that he will be suspended for five days, and the investigation will continue so he was asked to turn over his company phone and ID. Termination is very much possible after the suspension, and I feel really bad for him. He's like the best in our team in everything, and everyone, especially me, looks up to him. He's now using his free time to look around for other options, the same thing I had been doing for the past months. Just in case he won't get terminated, I think the damage has been done and knowing him, I think he will be resigning instead.

Almost everyone I'm close with in the company either has left or is leaving very soon. Three former teammates of mine were transferred to the other account only to be terminated the other day for not being able to pass the certification. A fourth former teammate who was with the group is resigning this week. In our team now, people are also leaving or has left, and two of my closest will leave this coming week. One will have her last day tomorrow and the other will have already resigned next week.

*sigh*

All I see are strangers, no more familiar faces. This is no longer the office I used to call home. WE used to call home.
